Automatic pressing is pressing the tungsten carbide rods with a die mold. This method is the most common and is suitable for short tungsten carbide rods. During the automatic pressing, workers add some paraffin as a forming agent, which can increase efficiency, shorten production time, and save more costs. And paraffin is easy to let out during the sintering. However, tungsten carbide rods after automatic pressing need to be ground.

Cold isostatic press(CIP) is the latest technology for making carbide rods. During the dry-bag isostatic pressing, the forming pressure is high, and the pressing process is fast. Tungsten carbide bars after dry-bag isostatic pressing have to be ground before sintering.
