How to Choose High-quality Tungsten Carbide Rotary Burr
How to Choose High-quality Tungsten Carbide Rotary Burr
Tungsten carbide rotary burrs have been used widely in shipping construction, auto engine porting, and foundry fabrication. With its high rotating speed and hardness, tungsten carbide rotary burr can machine different materials, such as cast iron, carbon steel, alloy steel, and nonferrous material. High life service of product is warranted for excellent raw material, which is one of the most critical factors to the carbide burr's life. Carbide rotary burrs can be applied to both electrically-powered and pneumatically-powered hand-held tools to cut materials including aluminum, brass, titanium alloys, cast iron, and copper. They can be widely used for pneumatic, electric drive tools. So how to choose a high-quality tungsten carbide rotary burr is very important for operators and procurement staff. Here are several methods for choosing a high-quality tungsten carbide rotary burr.
1. Select the shape of tungsten carbide rotary burrs
Section shape of cemented carbide rotary burr cutter should be selected according to the shape of the workpiece to be processed so that the shapes of the two parts are compatible. A semi-circular burr or round burr (small diameter workpiece) should be selected to process the internal arc surface, triangular burrs to process the inner corner surface, and a flat burr or a square burr for the inner right angle surface. When the flat burr is used to cut the inner right angle surface, it is necessary to make a narrow surface (smooth edge) without teeth close to one of the inner right angle surfaces to avoid damaging the right angle surface.
2. Choose the tooth thickness of carbide rotary burr
The thickness of burr teeth is supposed to be selected according to the allowance size of the workpiece, machining accuracy, and material properties. Coarse-tooth carbide burr is suitable for workpieces with large allowance, low dimensional accuracy, large form and position tolerance, large surface roughness value, and soft material; otherwise, fine-tooth carbide burr should be selected. When used, it should be chosen according to machining allowance, dimensional accuracy, and surface roughness required by the workpiece.
3. Select the size and specification of carbide burr
The size and specification of cemented carbide rotary burr should be selected according to the size of the workpiece and machining allowance. When machining size and the allowance is large, cemented carbide rotary burr with large size should be selected, or tungsten carbide rotary burr with small size should be selected instead.
