The Applications of The Carbide Composite Rod
The Applications of The Carbide Composite Rod
From the last article, we all know what is tungsten carbide composite rods. Tungsten carbide composite rods are tungsten Carbide Grit blended with a Copper, Nickel, and Zinc alloy. A composite rod is a cladding welding rod for hard facing, which embeds crushed carbide into Cu-Ni-Zn alloy by sintering. It can be applied by either oxyacetylene or the TIG process and could be utilized for both wear protection and cutting, depending on the size of the carbide particle.
Tungsten carbide composite rod has been used throughout the Oil drilling industry, Mining industry, and Construction industry all over the world. The general applications are repaired and wear protection of junk mill, stabilizers, rotary shoes, reamers, milling shoes, grinding shoes, foundation coring, wear pads, casing window mills, liner mills, junk baskets, foundry sand mixers, construction drilling, drill pipe joints, construction drilling, hydraulic-cutter, pipe cutter blades, core bit, scraper, twist drill, and screw feeders.
Why use tungsten carbide welding composite rods for those tools?
We all know that tungsten carbide has extra hardness and high wear-resistant properties. So tungsten carbide composite welding rod has wear and cutting properties coupled with high-end weldability and low fuming. Cause the main material of cemented carbide welding rods is tungsten carbide grits. It makes composite rod has excellent wear & cutting properties in the drilling industry.
How to choose the grade of the composite rods welding depends on a different application?
There are two serise grades, one is cutting grade, the other is wear grade.
Wear grades
1/16” x 1/8” (1.6 x 3.2 mm) (6-8 mesh)
3/16” x 1/8” (3.2 x 4.8 mm) (4-6 mesh)
3/32” x 1/16” (1.6 x 2.4mm) (8-14 mesh)
5/64” x 1/32” (0.8 x 1.6mm) (10-18 mesh)
(1 x 2 mm)
(2 x 4 mm)
Cutting grades
1/4” x 3/16” (4.8 x 6.4 mm) (3-4 mesh)
5/16” x 1/4” (6.4 x 7.9mm) (2-3 mesh)
3/8” x 5/16” (7.9 x 9.5 mm) (1-2 mesh)
1/2” x 3/8” (9.5 x 12.7 mm) (0-1 mesh)
