The Influences of Water Flow on Water Jet
One of the common problems during water jet cutting is the side deviation of the water flow. However, what are the consequences of water flow side deflection on waterjet abrasive tubes?
1. Slight side deflection of water flow
The water flow is slightly deflected, and then the water-abrasive mixture still can pass through the inner hole of the water jet mixing tube. However, the water-abrasive mixture will impact the outlet position of the water jet tube inner wall directly. The waterjet tube outlet will become an oval shape. The working life of the water jet abrasive nozzle tube will be seriously shortened and reduced cutting efficiency.
2. Moderate side deflection of the water flow
The water flow is moderately deflected, then the water-abrasive mixture cannot pass through the inner hole of the water jet mixing tube smoothly. And the water-abrasive mixture will impact the lower half of the water jet tube inner wall directly. The waterjet tube outlet will have a pointed shape. The working life of the water jet abrasive pipe will be seriously shortened, and the cutting effect will be extremely bad.
3. Severe side deflection of water flow
The water flow is severely deflected. The water-abrasive mixture impacts the upper of the waterjet focusing tube inner wall, even causing mirror reflection. The water outlet is almost still round, but the waterjet tube inner wall is full of pits and can't be cut at all, and even the water jet cutting tube will break.
The main reasons for the side deflection of the water jet flow are:
First, the inner hole of the focusing orifice itself is dislocated;
The second is the wear of the orifice seat, which causes the entire orifice to be in an inclined state after installation.
The third is that the water jet bounces back into the pit to disturb the normal trajectory of the water flow because the water flow and the inner hole of the water jet focusing tube are not concentric.
