The Types of Tungsten Carbide Blade Materials

Tungsten carbide blades are made of tungsten carbide powder and binder metal powder after mixing by percentage and sintering, which is a powder metallurgy process.

Tungsten carbide blade has a series of excellent properties such as high hardness, wear resistance, good strength and toughness, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance, especially its high hardness and wear resistance, which remains unchanged even at a temperature of 500 °C, even to 1000℃. Carbide-cutting tools play a fundamental role in promoting the development of the manufacturing industry.

The main chemical composition of tungsten carbide blades can be divided into three types.

The first type is WC (tungsten carbide) and Co (cobalt) powders. The second type is WC (tungsten carbide), TiC(Titanium Carbide), and Co (cobalt) powders. The third type is WC (tungsten carbide), TiC(Titanium Carbide), TaC (tantalum carbide) powders ),and Co (cobalt) powders. Different compositions mean they have different features and applications. 

1, WC+Co type tungsten carbide blades

WC+Co is tungsten carbide +Cobalt. It is named YG grade in China. And ISO grade is K type. This type of grade tungsten carbide blade is widely used to cut Alu, copper, plastic, wood, etc. The common grades are YG6, YG8, YG10X, YG15, YG20, YG25,(K10,K20,K30,K40) etc. 

2, WC+TiC+Co type tungsten carbide blades

 WC+TiC +Co is Tungsten carbide +Titanium Carbide+Cobalt. This grade is named YT in China. The ISO grade is P-type. This grade material carbide blade is good for cutting steel, cast iron, stainless steel, etc. The common grades are YT5、YT15、YT14 (P10, P20, P30), etc.

3, WC+TiC+TaC+Co type tungsten carbide blades

WC+TiC+TaC+Co Tungsten carbide +Titanium Carbide+Tantalum carbide+Cobalt. This grade material type is YW in China. ISO is M type. This type of tungsten carbide blade can cut kinds of ferrous or non-ferrous metals. The common grades are YW1, YW2, etc.
